We are often desperate to bring
an animal into safety and this is when we need foster carers to look
after them on a temporary basis until a suitable new home can be
found..
The amount of time each cat
spends in foster care can vary from a couple of weeks to
occasionally a few months.
In addition some cats become
stressed in the cattery and become depressed or aggressive but they
usually change character and blossom in a homely environment.
Sometimes we have cats or
kittens that are unwell or have been injured and need a little extra
care. We find that they tend to do better in a foster home.
Older cats come into our care
through no fault of their own and people are not so keen on adopting
them . They still have a lot of love to give but can be stuck in the
cattery for quite a long time waiting for a new owner to come along.
We feel that it is much kinder to place these "oldies" in a short
term foster home where they can get a little more care and
attention.
If we have a pregnant mum she
can be in the cattery for a few weeks before the kittens are born
and then until they are eight weeks old.
This is a long time for mum and
kittens to be in the cattery environment and where possible we like
our kittens to be brought up in a home where they can experience the
general noise hustle and bustle of family life.
We already have a small group
of foster carers but we would love to have some more people living
in the Bury St Edmunds area to join us.
